Financial support
This is a government scholarship program that provides living expenses, etc. to foreign exchange students and self-financed foreign students who have shown academic excellence while studying in Korea.
Support for outstanding foreign exchange students
The following support program aims to provide meaningful experiences for exchange students related to Korean culture and education and to strengthen the global competence of Korean universities by expanding mutual exchange.

- Eligible applicants

- Foreign exchange students who are currently not in Korea and are enrolled in a foreign university that has signed an agreement with a Korean university for exchange (for undergraduates only)
※ Those who have already benefited by a 4-month (one term) scholarship cannot extend or renew their terms.
- Foreign exchange students with an overall GPA in the upper 80 percentile at their university of study
※ Must have completed at least two semesters
- Foreign exchange students in regular courses in Korea (language courses are not considered as regular courses)
- Foreign exchange students may apply to only one university in Korea
- Foreign exchange students that are able to complete at least one class (2 credits or more) on Korean language or Korean culture while studying in Korea
- Foreign exchange students who are currently not in Korea and are enrolled in a foreign university that has signed an agreement with a Korean university for exchange (for undergraduates only)

- 10 months (2 semesters) or 4 months (1 semester)

- Living expenses: KRW 500,000 per month
- Settlement amount: KRW 200,000 (one-time support)
- Round-trip airfare: coverage of actual expenses
- Medical insurance premium: KRW 20,000 per month (subscription provided through the university)

- The National Institute for International Education (NIIED) selects universities for the GKS Foreign Exchange Student Program
- →The NIIED examines and selects GKS foreign exchange students from among the candidates recommended by the selected universities in Korea
Support for self-financed foreign students
The following program selects and supports self-financed international students in Korea.

- Eligible applicants
-
- Self-financed foreign students enrolled as sophomores or above in a regular undergraduate course in a university (or college) in Korea
- Students with an average GPA of at least 80 out of 100 for all semesters (except for those whose score needs to be rounded up to reach 80)
- Students with an average GPA of at least 80 out of 100 as of the previous semester
- Students with a TOPIK score of Level 4 or higher
※ Excludes self-financed foreign students receiving similar scholarships (more than KRW 500,000 per month in living expenses) from the Korean government, university, or other institution
